B5G edge computing for XR-driven collaborative design and real-time virtual prototyping

The use case objective is to incorporate XR into the design process to increase efficiency and process integration in the industry. Simultaneous design using 1st level VR (virtual reality) tools will be provided for the joint review of subgroup revisions and interactions by more than one person working in different locations, thus enabling virtual prototyping by creating a virtual 3D image in accordance with the requirements and facilitating its review on a digital model. Wearable technology (wearable finger pointers, smart gloves, etc.) linked with virtual reality (VR) tools produces an immersive, creative, and stimulating environment for virtual designers.

In order to utilize the benefits of 2nd level modelling and changes made by the designer herself/himself or during the collaboration of different designers working remotely that can be controlled by artificial intelligence simultaneously and will be able to provide guidance and suggestions to designers, a tool that can visualise the results of designers of different expertise (CAE-CAD Designer, DfAM Expert, etc.) is required.

The 3rd level of AR applications (Remote Assistance with AR) focuses on the instruction and training of personnel technicians who offer assembly or control after the actual item has been manufactured (e.g., prototypes, trial samples, mass production parts).
