SUSTAIN-6G

Agriculture Data vs Information

The UC delivers a real-time smart agriculture solution enabled by 6G based on crop monitoring and decision support. The system combines different data sources such as weather stations, soil stations and EO satellite images and transform raw data into actionable information.
The main outcome is a decision-support framework that optimizes irrigation, reduces agrochemical usage, and improves yield while minimizing environmental impact. This is intended to be achieved by leveraging the expected evolution of 6G networks, which are anticipated to improve connectivity performance and reduce current coverage gaps and heterogeneity in rural agricultural areas.
Such advancements could enable the use of precision agriculture tools in environments with connectivity or infrastructure limitations. The value of this approach lies in delivering clear, contextualized, and actionable information to growers, enabling them to integrate insights easily into daily decision-making processes. By leveraging the 6G connectivity infrastructure and smart agriculture technologies, the use case transforms technological capabilities into practical recommendations that improve resource efficiency and support more sustainable and resilient food production systems.
