SUSTAIN-6G

6G enabled grid balancing services

This Use Case will demonstrate that during grid contingencies, the grid balancing responsible entity can request the real-time procurement of Fast Frequency Response (FFR) ancillary services. A responsive distribution grid, from a Local Energy Market (LEM), then conducts real-time Machine Learning (ML)-based optimal power flow operations, to estimate the available Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) flexibility and adjust their set-points.

The Use Case validation will utilise Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled DERs at the edge of the smart grid, apply real-time adjustments for grid stability, by leveraging the features of 6G and cloud/edge IoT computing continuum
