Autonomous Boat for Multioperation and Safety Border Control

use case image

The ABySS-5G UC4 demonstrates the effective use of a 5G connected autonomous boat named “Kaluga” on human safety, surveillance, and environmental monitoring operations near the Port of Valencia. The performance covers different operations (maritime surveillance, incident detection, deployment of lifebuoys, identification of maritime pollution) near the coast, while the boat is remotely controlled via a ground station using a 5G network to ensure a low-latency and reliable communication. The project aims to prove how 5G improves the efficiency and flexibility of autonomous maritime operations.
