IMAGINE-B5G

Immersive Remote Education

use case image

HoloMEd aims to fill key gaps and represents a step forward in the scope of Virtual/Augmented/eXtended Reality (AR/VR/XR) and B5G technologies applied to the education sector, by leveraging the IMAGINE-B5G facilities and enablers. In particular, HoloMEd proposes to: (i) adopt an outstanding holo-portation platform, which supports up to 10 concurrent users per session, captured in real-time as human-size volumetric and realistic holograms, by using low-cost off-the-shelf hardware; (ii) provide a novel standards-compliant Network as Code (NaC) API to request Quality-on-Demand (QoD) to the network, and apply it to multiuser holo-portation services; and (iii) run a series of large-scale real-world trials, encompassing the whole spectrum of cross-realities, from (baseline) face-to-face to full VR scenarios, also including AR/XR settings with in-presence audience members and remote holoported experts.
