Ultra Low Latency M2M Communications for Fabrication Systems

PULSE-5G (Predictive Utilisation of Cloud Logic and Sensors for Efficiency with 5G) is an Industry 4.0 project focused on enhancing industrial automation through 5G, AI, and cloud-based control systems. Led by Simtera ICT, the project integrates Industrial IoT (IIoT) and predictive analytics to optimise manufacturing processes. By implementing a cloud-based "PLC as a Service" (PLCaaS), PULSE-5G reduces infrastructure costs and improves efficiency. The experiment, conducted at a Norwegian facility, tests real-time monitoring, adaptive AI models, and digital twins. The project demonstrates 5G’s potential for scalable, cost-effective, and intelligent industrial automation, supporting digital transformation in manufacturing.
