Enhancing Public Safety by Leveraging the Mobitrust Situational Awareness Ecosystem for Policing Large-Scale Events

The proposed B5G-MOBITRUST trials will be jointly conducted by OneSource, an SME which has developed the Mobitrust situational awareness platform for PPDR, and the Málaga Police, which already operates in the area covered by the FIDAL Málaga testbed. The goal is to support the mission of the Málaga Police when managing large crowds at major events, which are quite demanding both from a policing perspective (e.g., crowd management, crime and terrorism prevention/detection, medical emergencies) and the communications perspective (highly demanding applications, unpredictable demand peaks, high risk of network congestion, resource management, need for fast data processing capabilities). The proposed project will leverage B5G capabilities, such as additional edge capabilities, slicing, and QoS mechanisms, to ensure the adequate prioritisation of PPDR-related traffic. The plan is to extend the FIDAL Málaga Testbed with edge nodes and mobile Command and Control Centres and to significantly test and demonstrate the FIDAL 5G and B5G infrastructures in at least five real-world events, involving more than one million people (Málaga inhabitants and visitors) to validate and disseminate the usage of disaster response capabilities by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technologies and applications specifically tailored for managing emergency and disaster response scenarios within urban and rural environments.
