Data sharing for real-time situation awareness
The target CAM (Connected Automated Mobility) use case, named Data sharing for real-time situation awareness for the Greek site, and is classified as part of the Local Hazard and Traffic Information (LHTI) 5GAA CAM UCs category, which is a priority for the automotive industry. More specifically, it expands on the principles of 5GAA Safety-related use cases, such as Traffic Jam Warning & Route Information, Real-Time Situational Awareness, and Automated Driving: Data Sharing of Dynamic Objects.
The UC involves real-time network-assisted data sharing among vehicles with the (Original Equipment Manufacturer) application server and/or traffic management system to achieve local situation awareness and precise traffic & hazard information notifications. It focuses on exchanging information accessible or generated by the vehicle, such as the onboard sensors (LiDAR, radars, cameras, and so on). The objective is to guarantee that the cars receive uninterrupted service even when they move between network operators' coverage zones. To guarantee minimal latency, the application servers are located near the access network and on the edge data centre. This use case will look at the real-time migration of vehicle communication across several edge servers as cars move from one site to another, ensuring flawless connectivity and fast response times.
