Dynamic Collaborative Mapping for Automated Driving

High-definition (HD) maps must accurately represent the road environment to guarantee that the Automated Vehicles (AVs) can take the most appropriate driving actions. AVs can contribute to keeping the HD maps updated by providing the sensor data they gather during driving. In this use case, when the AV detects that the HD maps are not aligned with the surrounding environment, it sends its sensor data to a mapping service running on the edge server. Due to the high volume of data to be transferred, the AV needs additional network resources that trigger a dynamic reconfiguration of the beyond 5G/6G system using the ENVELOPE APIs. This use case also deals with the MEC handover topic, which considers the case when the AV moves from an area covered by one edge server to an area served by a different one.
