6G-SANDBOX
6G-VIZ
The goal of this use case is to build a generic, open real-time 3D visualisation solution for 5G and 6G measurements:
- A digital twin (a 3D model) of a site’s laboratory will form the basis of the visualisation. Antennas, UEs, reflectors, etc., will be added to create a replica of the physical environment as a virtual playground. The solution will be based on open-source 3D frameworks. It runs on modern web browsers and XR headsets via WebXR, supporting, e.g., the latest Apple and Meta headsets with hand-tracking.
- Multi-site support. A 3D globe-like zoomable user interface for navigating between sites and visualising their connections and resource sharing. Facilitates cooperation between multiple 6G-SANDBOX platforms/sites. It enables, for example, remotely observing and instructing experiments conducted at another location, either in real-time or afterwards, using record and replay functionality.
- Real-time 3D graphical visualisation of selected network KPIs. Signal strength, throughput etc. Notice that the focus is not on simulating radio wave traversal precisely (there are engineering tools for that); we aim to communicate 6G key concepts in a simplified way and provide an open, easily expandable interactive playground that supports performing network tests, training, and demo purposes.
- A set of use case simulations for perceived QoS. E.g., video/audio and robot control-related simulations can be used as plug-ins. Use case simulations to effectively communicate changes, e.g., in network bandwidth and latency. For example, precise robot control becomes increasingly difficult when network latency increases. These plug-ins can be implemented as task-oriented mini-games.
