Smart Cities- Security Coordination
The police force plays a vital role in cities' daily activities by ensuring the safety and security of individuals in their communities. They are responsible for enforcing the law and maintaining public order, and their presence can significantly reduce crime and improve quality of life. In daily activities, police officers perform a wide range of tasks, from responding to emergency calls to patrolling neighbourhoods to prevent crime. They also conduct investigations, gather evidence, and make arrests. Their role is not only reactive but also proactive, as they work to prevent crime by building relationships with community members and implementing crime prevention strategies. Effective police force management is essential for ensuring that police officers can effectively carry out their duties in daily activities. In daily activities, emergency services communication involves the dispatching of emergency response teams to different locations. Emergency call centres receive calls from individuals who require immediate assistance or rescue, and the call taker must gather all necessary information before dispatching the appropriate emergency services providers. This information includes the nature of the emergency, the location of the incident (i.e. where the call comes from), and any other pertinent details that can be used during the rescue or assistance. Hence, an effective police force is key to ensure that they meet their goals.
This use case proposes to investigate the usage of different communication technologies to assess the performance and efficiency of security coordination around a given situation. Thus, it aims to improve the above-mentioned coordination using secure communications, refined geolocation and command and control tools, including situational awareness dashboards and real-time crime mapping information.
